Blackberry Z30 Phablet Video Leaked, the Biggest Blackberry Yet? [WATCH]
A leaked video of the smartphone Blackberry Z30 has emerged on YouTube. This could easily be the biggest smartphone launched by Blackberry. It is an indication that in the size wars in the smartphone market Samsung was right. With a "bigger is better" philosophy sweeping the smartphone market, the phablet sized Z30 is set to take on Samsung.
A Vietnamese web site, Cellphone S, has released a YouTube video of a Blackberry Phablet called "Blackberry Z30." There has been no official announcement yet about the Blackberry Z30, but the phone is rumored to feature a 5 inch AMOLED display, 1280 x 720 resolution, with a pixel density of 295 PPI, 1.7 GH dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 plus MSM8960 processor, Adreno graphics 2 GB RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, LED flash, an expandable 16GB memory and a 2800mAh battery. The phone is expected to be 8.4 mm thick with a Blackberry 10 operating system - 10.2. The phone is expected to support - micro HDMI, Wi-Fi, DLNA, NFC and Bluetooth in terms of connectivity. It is also expected to come with all the usual features to facilitate easy access to social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
The phone in the YouTube video, which is in Viatnamese, carries an AT &T logo. This could mean that the phone will be available on the AT&T network. The phone is expected to be launched around Christmas time by the end of 2013. It will be interesting to see whether the timing of the product will make a difference to the sales figures of the phone especially after the lackluster performance of the company's Z10 smartphone.
Blackberry is facing the heat from the competition from other smartphone manufacturers. The shares of the company are down 17 percent from the beginning of 2013 and the company is reported to be looking for a partner or strategic alliance. The company could also be looking at an outright sale or joint venture, according to reports.
Blackberry Z30 seems to be the company's last hope to see some kind of a revival. A sale of the company at this time could damage the established brand name, which has taken the company years to build.
