'The Blacklist: Redemption' spoilers: Why Red wants Tom to stay away from Scottie Hargrave; questions behind Howard Hargrave's death surfaces

Taking from recent events on the show, it looks like Raymond Reddington (James Spader) is hiding something again. As the episodes progress, Tom (Ryan Eggold) appears to be more desperate for information about his family. However, Red does not look interested at all to help him.

Red tells him of his mother Scottie Hargrave (Famke Janssen), whom he needs to stay away from. Tom asks why. Red responds with “my question is why not?” He then emphasizes that he has a wife, a child and a life. It is quite clear that he knows something about Tom’s mother and is not willing to share information.

Just as much as Tom wanted to leave his mother alone, he just could not do it. He said that he told Liz that he would and that it did not matter except that he told him not to let Scottie Hargrave know that he is her son. If he does, he would probably never know the truth.

Fortunately, viewers are about to get the answers they want on “The Blacklist: Redemption” spinoff. As for Red, it looks like he still has a lot of explaining to do, reports E!.

Red says that he had a brief professional relationship with Tom’s father. He knows Scottie and that she happens to be a manipulative creature whose own husband trusted her very little. All that really matters is that he vanished nearly 30 years ago and now he is here. Red then tells him that he has to leave the past in the past and that nothing good will ever come out of digging out secrets.

Tom will be setting off in a quest to unearth details about his past, his family and their many secrets after an unexpected event occurred in the episode titled “Isabella Stone.” Eggold will reprise his role as Tom in “The Blacklist: Redemption.” He will be joined by his mother to form an elite mercenary team.

“The Blacklist: Redemption” premieres Feb. 23, 2017 on NBC in the US. “The Blacklist” also airs Thursdays in the US. In Australia, it can be viewed on Channel Seven.
