Selena Gomez may have officially stated she's single but that isn't stopping her from continuously hooking up with ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber. While Gomez may have her reasons for keeping the connection open between her and Bieber, "Selenators" can't help but come up with a few theories as to why these two still acted like a "couple."

With "Stars Dance" landing on iTunes number 1 spot, it's not surprising why Gomez has pretty much been everywhere these days. From radio interviews to live performances, Selena Gomez was at the top of her game. In fact, Selena's fourth album wasn't the only notable achievement this year. Fans may recall the success of Selena's post-Disney flick, "Spring Breakers" that had rave reviews since its release.

Apart from making it big in the music and movie industries, Gomez was also making her mark in the fashion biz. Selena has already released her Fall and Winter line for Adidas NEO and Dream Out Loud collection. Judging from the success of her music to movies, Gomez obviously has no time for the drama involving her recent split from Justin Bieber.

Still, everyone wants to know the real deal between Selena and Justin given they've been spotted together countless times. Justin was even spotted at Selena's grand birthday party last July 27, where insiders claim intense PDA took place. However, Selena Gomez insisted that there is nothing going on between her and Bieber and that the two are just friends.

"I've known him for a really long time and we enjoy each other's company every now and then. But I'm definitely single and enjoying being that," stated Gomez.

Well, a source close to Gomez opened up about the real reason about the continued hook-up between Selena and Justin.

"Let's be honest, she can't date a regular guy, so hooking up with Justin seems safe," explained the insider.

Gomez was gorgeous in her own light and it'll definitely be easy for the 21 year old to look for an immediate replacement for Justin. Even so, why did Selena still hook up with Bieber? Could there still be feelings of love harbouring within Selena Gomez or was this set-up just an easy booty call?
