Boss, Co-Workers of I Quit YouTube Sensation Make Counterpoint Video; Queen Latifah Offers Marina Shifrin Job as Digital Content Producer
It is not only Marina Shifrin, the writer who quit her job in a very creative manner, who is a YouTube sensation. Her boss from her and co-workers are now also YouTube stars by making a counterpoint to her video with the message that they are hiring.
Ms Shifrin's video, titled An Interpretive Dance For My Boss Set To Kanye West's Gone, has become viral and in the 6 days since it was posted on YouTube, had more than 12 million hits.
Not to be outdone, her boss and former co-employees made their response to Marina's video with another video titled An Interpretive Dance From Next Media Animation Set to Kanye West's Gone. The 1:34 video, also posted on YouTube, has also gone viral with more than 3 million hits in 3 days.
Ms Shifrin used to work for The Taiwanese Animators, which is behind the infamous Tiger Woods animation.
But rather than gain sympathy, the animation company was instead criticised for making the counterpoint video.
Harshit Srivastava commented that the second video is really disgraceful. Explaining his description, Mr Srivastava wrote, "all the employees are dancing just because they want to retain their job, only the boss is looking irritated."
He said Marina was right in quitting her job, to which Grant Abrahams agreed.
Mr Abrahams said, "guess every reason she quit in highlighted in this video ... they could not come up with decent or original content to respond with. Instead they just copied her idea. Quite disgusting from a Global Company."
While the animation film had to advertise a vacancy caused by Marina's high-profile resignation, Ms Shifrin got a job offer as digital content producer from Queen Latifah for her U.S. chat show, BBC reported.
The offer came when Ms Shifrin returned to the U.S. and guested on the Queen Latifah Show. She thought the offer was just a joke until Queen Latifah quipped, "I'm a boss and bosses can hire."
Queen Latifah later tweeted, "This girl was so creative I had to offer this internet sensation a job."
The BBC report did not state if Ms Shifrin accepted or rejected the job offer. Maybe Ms Shifrin will let the world know of her decision also via YouTube.
