Amir Khan performed well in his unanimous decision victory over American Devon Alexander last Saturday night, Dec. 13. Now the British boxer is aiming for the big money fights against either Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao and a rival’s promoter was impressed by Khan’s performance.

“Amir is definitely improving, he is more disciplined. I still think he leaves himself open when he is trading, but I am picking holes in a great performance,” Eddie Hearn, Kell Brook’s promoter said via boxingscene.com in the wake of Khan’s convincing 12-round victory. Khan defeated Alexander via judges’ scores of 119-109, 118-110, 120-108 to retain the World Boxing Council (WBC) silver welterweight crown.

Hearn went on to say that Khan that has a great chance to give Mayweather Jr. fits because of their difference in style, Khan’s aggressiveness and Mayweather’s calculated more defensive-oriented tactics. A possible fight with Pacquiao is also on the horizon and will be a battle between two fighters who once shared the same gym under renowned and current Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach.

“Of course it would be a good fight but there are bigger fights for Floyd for more money [for example]. Manny Pacquiao,” Hearn added in the same article. “If Amir doesn't fight Floyd, it has to be Kell Brook. Khan is a bigger name but Kell is a world champion.”

Brook, who is also an Englishman like Khan, is ranked 7th by ESPN and 4th by Ring Magazine in the loaded welterweight division (147 pounds), which also features Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez. Like Mayweather, Brook is undefeated and is the number one rated boxer out of Britain. He has a record of 33-0-0 with 22 knockouts.

Brook’s most recent victory came against Shawn Porter via majority decision last Aug. 16, 2014. The 28-year-old was sidelined the past months after getting a stab wound on his left leg and he is expected to suit up and be healthy by March 2015. Brook is from Sheffield, Yorkshire while Khan (30-3-0, 19 knockouts) is from Bolton, Lancashire both in the United Kingdom. If the two British contenders decide to fight each other they are expected to sell the 80,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in London, U.K.
