British Brotherhood to Invade Summer 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony: One Direction & Ed Sheeran to Perform
Apart from over a thousand athletes worldwide, Hollywood celebrities and UK royalties are making a point to show up at the prestigious athletic event. Rupert Grint was one celebrity who had done the honor of the Olympic Torch Relay and now Rupert's doppelganger, Ed Sheeran along with One Direction are set to appear at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
The Olympics opening ceremony had a pretty much awesome impact. Tens of thousands of athletes were present along with the UK royal family plus the iconic Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, along with Prince William. Celebrity singers who took part in the opening ceremony were Paul McCartney, Artic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal and Emeli Sande.
With a record setting of 40.7 million people, the organizers of the 2012 Summer Olympics are aiming for a double in number for the closing ceremony. To do exactly that, the boys of One Direction and Ed Sheeran are set to perform for the athletic event. Rumor has it that the boys of One Direction namely, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik will be joined by Ed Sheeran, The Who, Spice Girls, Take That and Queen.
The line-up of performers is proving to be eventful and indeed show-stopping. Yet, nothing is still set on stone and last minutes changes are expected given these performers are busy with worldwide tours and everything else. Still, the excitement of being at the Olympics has affected each member of the popular boy band. Liam Payne and Niall Horan have already been tweeting Olympic-related tweets from the beginning of the athletic event.
"Don't know if it's just me, but the excitement in London is unbelievable!" tweeted Niall, adding. "Its gonna be a great games."
"If i wasnt in 1D , running in the olympics would of been my dream :)," tweeted Liam Payne.
As for Ed Sheeran, who is rumored to join the British boy band, is keeping cryptic with his answers regarding the performance for the Olympics Closing Ceremony.
"I was told not to say anything about that, and then as soon as I was told not to say anything about that, it was in The Daily Mail the next day. It was a bit odd," explained Ed. "The closing ceremony, there were rumors I am playing the closing ceremony. Those rumors may or may not be true. If I was to play the closing ceremony, I might be playing with quite a big rock band and I might be playing one of their most famous hits. Might be. And if I was doing that, it would feel quite fun, I think. And it would be quite a moment for me. But that's if I was doing it," added Sheeran.
For now, all fans can do is hope and pray the boys of One Direction do happen to perform at the closing ceremony along with Ed Sheeran.
