Britney Spears, Rory McIlroy, Gordon Ramsay And Pharrell Williams Star In Andy Murray’s Spoof Biopic
A number of celebrities has appeared on a spoof film about Andy Murray's life. Some of the stars include Britney Spears, Pharrell Williams, Rory McIlroy, Richard Ayoade, and Cesc Fabregas, among others.
The Cancer Research UK and British Channel 4 are the minds behind Murray's spoof film, Mail Online reports. The parody features celebrities like Spears and Williams, who are trying out for Murray's biopic.
Ayoade, who became famous for his role as Maurice Moss in the hit British comedy series "The IT Crowd," acts as the filmmaker. Ayoade is helping Murray to cast someone to play the British World No. 1 and all the other significant people in his life. Pharrell Williams, BBC presenter Terry Wogan and retired professional tennis player Tim Henman audition for Murray's role. Spears tries out for Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears.
Gordon Ramsay auditions for the role of umpire. Ramsay is incredibly hilarious as he portrays a foul-mouthed referee.
Comedian Jimmy Carr also tries out for Murray's role, but ended up impersonating 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. Some people reckon Carr looks like the Swiss tennis champion.
English film actor Andy Serkis, who donned a CGI suit, also tests for the lead role. Champion Irish golfer Rory McIlroy also takes part and hits a tennis ball with his trademark golf swing. Noel Fielding of "The Mighty Boosh" also lends his comical acting skills. Other stars featured in Murray's spoof biopic include "Twilight" actor Michael Sheen, Cesc Fabregas, Dara Briain, Dynamo, and Ed Sheeran.
In Murray's post on his official Web site, he said that he had fun although he found it difficult not to laugh during the shoot. "Hopefully, people will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it," Murray wrote. "Let's hope it's a brilliant night, and it raises a ton of cash in the ongoing fight against cancer."
"Stand Up To Cancer" is a charitable program that raises funds to speed up the pace of revolutionary study on cancer, which is one of the leading causes of death in all ages. Murray became a part of the organisation's rally against cancer after two of his close friends, Ross Hutchins and Elena Baltacha, were diagnosed with the killer disease. Hutchins survived, but Baltacha was not as lucky. Baltacha died in May at a very young age of 30.
Meanwhile, Murray has advanced in the semifinals of the Vienna Open. The British now has moved a step closer in qualifying for the season-ending tournament in London. He received 45 points just by making it into the last four. Murray will move in the eighth place of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Race to London world rankings if he wins the title in Vienna.
