Users can now upgrade their Samsung Galaxy S4 handsets to Jelly Bean 4.3 Google Play Edition. The update guarantees better looking display and improved battery life. It is also possible to enhance the processing abilities of the device once updated.

One thing though, the update has an odd bug. It does not display if LTE has been enabled. Although for the rest of the interface, this is only a minor concern. The following sections summarize how to bump up the Samsung Galaxy S4 to Google Play Edition.

Prior to carrying out the update, users should ensure they satisfied the following requirements:

1. The Galaxy S4 must be rooted.

2. Users need to download the JB 4.4 Google Play Edition and CWM Recovery firmware.

3. The phone must have USB debugging enabled. To do this, go to Menu> Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.

4. Phone should be at least 80% charged.

Once all these have been satisfied, proceed to updating the handset. Follow these instructions:

1. Connect the Galaxy S4 handset to a laptop or computer.

2. Transfer Google Play firmware to the SD card root of the handset.

3. Turn off the smartphone and unplug from the computer.

4. Boot the handset into recovery mode. Press and hold the power, home and volume up simultaneously to do this.

5. Wait until recovery mode is complete before creating a full NANDroid backup.

6. For backup, go to "Backup & Restore" then proceed to "Backup." Wait for a couple of minutes.

7. Users should carry out a data wipe on their Galaxy S4 to complete the update. To do this, go to "Factory reset/Wipe data." Confirm the data swipe by clicking "Yes."

8. Next, choose "wipe cache partition" and hit "Yes" to confirm. Make sure you select "Wipe Dalvik cache" to finish off the data wipe of your phone.

9. Go to "Install zip from SD card" and proceed with "Choose zip from SD card." Lastly, choose the Google Play firmware.

10. Go back to the recovery menu once installation is done.

Users must reboot their handsets to take advantage of the update. The initial boot may take longer compared before. The lag is normal. It should be fine following the first boot.
