Readers interested in purchasing a Windows Phone handset from Microsoft Store are in for a surprise offer. As it turns out, Microsoft is offering free Nokia headphones upon purchasing any Windows Phone handset. However, this deal is only applicable to US customers.

To be specific, irrespective of the Windows Phone handset model and cost of the device, Microsoft is now giving away the yellow hued “Coloud Boom Nokia headphones.” This offer reportedly applies to the inexpensive Lumia 435, Acer Liquid M220 and even LG Lancet, to the mid- to high-end Lumia 640 XL and others. To top it off, the HTC One M8 for Windows also comes under this deal ambit, notes Phone Arena. In any case, readers should note that, the free headphones offer will reportedly last depending on the availability of stocks. Hence readers are advised to rush to utilise this offer.

It is worth noting that this free headphones offer on Windows Phones can be availed on both unlocked smartphones and also on those under carrier contract. Speaking of the Coloud Boom Nokia headphones, this gadget’s original price used to be $34.99. In case, readers would like to purchase the headphones individually, then the gadget comes at a discounted price of $19.99, which is on a separate promotional deal.

Meanwhile, all handsets listed in the Microsoft Store that are now running on Windows Phone 8.1 will apparently be updated to Windows 10 Mobile, when this OS version gets released. At this point, the Windows 10 release date is expected to be in September. But then, as with other OS versions, the inexpensive entry-level handsets might not get the advanced features of the Windows 10 for Mobile due to hardware limitations of the handset.

When it comes to the recently released Microsoft Lumia 640 XL, the device flaunts a 5.7-inch display and 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution. This combination translates to a pixel density of a modest 259 ppi.

Under the hood, the new Lumia handset comes powered by a Snapdragon 400 SoC and backed by a decent 1 GB of RAM unit. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update straight out of the box. Other Lumia 640 XL specifications include, a 13 MP rear-facing camera, Carl Zeiss optics, LED flash and a gracious 5 MP front-facing snapper. Plus, the device supports 4G LTE, NFC and houses a cool 3,000 mAh battery unit.
