Cameron Diaz Receives 'Worst Actress' Award, Movie 'Annie' Wins 'Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel' At 35th Golden Rasperry Awards
Once a top-paid actress, Cameron Diaz has now been awarded by a “Worst Actress” award by the 35th Golden Rasperry Awards. Unlike other award ceremonies, this annual ceremony honours flops and failures by giving them a “Razzie.”
Cameron Diaz received a Razzie for “Worst Actress” for failing to deliver in the comedy films “The Sex Tape,” “The Other Woman.” Although nominated for the “Worst Supporting Actress” most recent film “Annie” where she played Miss Hanigan, Mila Kunis took home the award for the category for her performance in the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
The film “Annie” itself received an award, which is not a good thing. The movie took home the gold spray-painted raspberry-shaped trophy for the title of “Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.”
It did not come as a surprise that Cameron will not get the award of "Worse Supporting Actress" in "Annie" since she said she prepared for the role as much as she could. In an interview with Ellen Degeneres show, she shared that she had to train for the role. She told Ellen. "I had to actually have a voice for this song, for this film. I did a lot of training -- as much as I could!"
The “My Best Friend’s Wedding” star also shared how much fun she had doing the movie, and playing mean Miss Hannigan. She relished the chance to “yell at kids,” as she jokingly shared to an interview with Seth Meyers. However, she explained that the kids’ fears around her quickly dissipated when she told them she was just acting and showed them her fun and nice side. She also recounted a story of how she ran to get the kids mufflers and coats when they were shooting in a particularly snowy and cold night. She said after that kind act, the kids would laugh when she tried to yell at them again, saying they do not buy her being mean.
If Cameron Diaz too home the Razzie for “Worst Actress,” Kirk Cameron got the “Worst Actor Award” for his role on “Saving Christmas.” The film itself took home the Razzies for worst picture, worst screenplay and worst screen combo.
