Can Kate avoid Diana’s sadness?
"Diana: Her True Story" author, Andrew Morton expresses confidence that Kate Middleton will not thread the road travelled by Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana.
"Diana: Her True Story" author, Andrew Morton has given a number of reasons why Kate Middleton will not suffer the same sadness Princess Diana had after marrying Prince Charles almost three decades ago.
Morton asserted that Kate is highly unlikely to face the “same loveless marriage and the cold shoulder from the royals” he described in the book Diana had to go through after the fairy-tale-royal wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981.
Morton saw a few major reasons differences how Kate survives being married to the Royal family: her age , a generation of Royals close to Kate’s; and Prince William’s love.
"Kate is so much older than Diana was when she married, she is 29, the equivalent age to Prince William, she is a more mature individual and she has the support of her family and her friends which is critical because the palace can swallow you up," Morton told the Agence France Presse in an interview.
Kate Middleton is also of the same age with Prince William and both were taking Art History classes at St. Andrews University when they first met in 2001.
The author of the book that shocked the Royal family also asserted that unlike Princess Diana, “Kate is marrying a guy who loves her”.
Morton said: “"When Diana walked down the aisle at St Paul's Cathedral she was watching out for a lady in a grey pillarbox hat and a grey coat -- Camilla Parker-Bowles.”
"She hoped that by the time she reached the end of that three and a half minute walk down the aisle, that relationship would be over. She was proved sadly wrong," Morton was quoted as saying when interviewed by The Agence France Presse at his London home.
Kate according to Morton is also in the company of “the new generation” of Royal family, noting that even the Queen has a profile on Facebook.
“The world has moved on, the royal family has moved on to a degree. Even the Queen is on Facebook. The old generation has literally died,” Morton said. "The new generation, Prince Edward, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Zara Phillips, are the coming people.
Writing a feel-good book about Kate and William, “William and Catherine, Their Lives, Their Wedding”, Morton concluded saying, "So I think that Kate is going to find it a lot easier in this new generation of younger royals."
