'Captain America: Civil War'—Vincent D'Onofrio Talks About Having 'Soft Spot' For Iron Man And Featuring Kingpin In The Movie
Vincent D’Onofrio spoke about having a “soft spot” for Iron Man and wanting to see Kingpin in the upcoming movie “Captain America: Civil War.” The actor is known for playing the role of Kingpin in the 2015 TV series “Daredevil.” [Spoiler Alert!]
In a Reddit conversation with the fans, Vincent D’Onofrio was asked about which actors he would like to work with in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project in the future. The actor hinted at the plot about Iron Man and Kingpin from the comic books, on which the upcoming movie “Captain America: Civil War” is based. The Reddit “Ask Me Anything,” or AMA, session generated over 600 comments by excited fans.
“I do have a soft spot in my heart for Iron Man. I know Fisk made a deal with him during Civil War, I'd love to see that happen. But one can only hope,” Vincent D’Onofrio said in one of his responses. The actor was referring to the comic book plot where Tony Stark approaches Kingpin on Rikers Island and makes a deal with him to enlist his support against Captain America and his faction.
According to the comic books, after the war breaks out between the two factions, Tony Stark’s faction will sustain heavy losses leading to the character seeking the help of some unsavoury characters to win. The two factions will be at odds with each other over a government law that attempts to regulate superhero activity by requiring them to reveal their identity and register with the government. This has been confirmed to be the plot of the movie “Captain America: Civil War.”
Answering another fan question, Vincent D’Onofrio said that he would not only want to be in “Captain America: Civil War” but also of the whole series, especially since the rights to Spider-Man are back with Marvel. The actor pointed out in his post that there isn’t a “badder nemesis” of Spider-Man than Kingpin.
Vincent D’Onofrio has apparently read as much as possible about Kingpin in order to prepare for the role. “I read everything I could find on Fisk. You know, every comic that had chapters on him,” the actor said in a post. The possibility of the character or the actor featuring in “Captain America: Civil War” has not been confirmed by the producers.
