'Captain Marvel': Jude Law's character details teased
“Captain Marvel” will be introducing a few new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while bring back a few familiar faces. One of these new characters is Jude Law’s character Walter Lawson, also known as Mar-Vell. In a recent interview, Law teased some details about his characters motivations and drive.
Walter Lawson is the head of a Kree military unit known as Starforce. This unit has been described as the Seal Team Six of space. The members of this team include Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Korath (Djimon Hounsou), and Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan).
In an interview with EntertainmentWeekly, Law teased some details about his character. “He is driven by a belief in the divine leadership of the Kree people,” Law said. “So he’s almost a devout warrior — unquestioning, conservative, but inspirational.”
Mar-Vell and Carol will have an interesting relationship in the next film. The two will argue about a lot of things, Law teased. This creates a lot of tension within Starforce. “Like, ‘Why do they have a special relationship, and why isn’t it me?’” Law said.
The Kree are an alien race of people who value the community over individualism. They are at war with the Skrulls, another alien race from the comics that is being introduced in the upcoming film.
The main focus of th next film will be on the planet Hala. This is where the members of Starforce live, along with Ronan (Lee Pace).
Meanwhile, Larson teased details about her character in another interview with EntertainmentWeekly. The actress said that her character can be aggressive, she has a temper, and she can be a little invasive when dealing with others.
Captain Marvel likes to jump into action, and is usually the first one on the field. She doesn’t like to wait for orders, and Larson pointed out that some people see the act of waiting for orders as a character flaw.
