Stana Katic is leaving 'Castle'

“Castle” Season 8 has yet to be officially confirmed by its home U.S. network, ABC. If it gets a renewal order, the series created by Andrew W. Marlowe would need a new showrunner; David Amann is stepping down. Meanwhile, “Castle” lead actress Stana Katic married her longtime boyfriend over the weekend.

ABC President Paul Lee earlier told TVLine that the network values “Castle” and the execs want to see the show run “for many years to come.” This comforted many fans of the show despite the lack of an official renewal order. Now that Stana Katic is married and has yet to sign on for “Castle” Season 8, fans are wondering what happens next.

Stana Katic married her longtime boyfriend, Kris Brkljac, in a private ceremony over the weekend. Incidentally, Katic celebrated her 37th birthday on April 26.

People Magazine updated its Twitter followers with the news of the real-life wedding, and the responses have been positive. Katic, who plays Detective Kate Beckett in “Castle,” also played a bride in the show recently.

“Castle” Season 7 showrunner David Amann is stepping down after barely a year of being on top of the show. Amann was promoted to the post months ahead of the season premiere. Marlowe had earlier said he was transitioning the drama to new leadership, adding he wanted to focus on molding new concepts.

Nathan Fillion, who plays the titular role Rick Castle, has signed a new contract. If ABC orders “Castle” Season 8, Fillion will definitely be returning. Katic, for her part, has yet to respond to media queries. Instead, Katic announced she would be going radio silent ahead of her reported wedding.
