Australian actress Cate Blanchett claimed she had same-sex relationships in “real life.” The actress is currently starring in the film project “Carol,” where she plays a bisexual.

In an interview with Variety magazine where she is tasked to talk about her latest film, “Carol” and her character as a woman who is attracted to both men and women, Cate shared that she has never been averse to dating women in real life herself. Asked if the movie is her “first turn as a lesbian,” Cate coyly said asked if the interviewer is asking about films or her real life, which prompted Ramin Setoodeh, the interviewer to press for more information. Cate was generous with her answer and said indeed, she had “many” relationships with women.

Cate however, left it that and proceeded to talk about her bisexual character. The actress said that in order to prepare for the role, she had to pour some time reading some banned “girl-on-girl” literature from the era. The movie is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next week.

Blanchett is however, already married to Andrew Upton and the mother of four children, three sons and an adopted baby girl. As Mother’s Day celebration this year rolled around, she shared that her greatest and proudest moments were all related to being a mother. In an interview, the age-defying beauty shared that she shares a powerful bond with her children. She also detailed an incident that made her proud and happy to be a mom, involving her two eldest children. “When my second son was born, my first son was still quite little and he had this blanket that was his pride and joy,” she said. “He didn’t give it up for anyone and the minute Roman, our second son, was born, he just handed it over to him, and I’ll never forget that," she gushes. “In that moment he was that supreme act of generosity.”

Last March, People magazine confirms that Cate and Andrew welcomed a fourth baby, a girl, through adoption. They later named her Edith. The two got married in 1997 and since then, raised three sons together, now 13, 10, and 6 years old. The adopted baby is their first daughter.
