Cate Blanchett Says She Loves Children As They Are 'Spirited, Passionate, Political And Demanding'
Cate Blanchett looks glamourous in her pictures from Vogue Australia, where she also talked about many topics ranging from gender inequality to her newly adopted daughter. The 45-year-old actress looks classic in the Bottega Veneta attire on the magazine cover. The pictures, which can be seen here, are shot by Emma Summerton.
Blanchett looks elegant in a variety of outfits and dresses by the brand. She also wears a huge black head wrap and converses with New York-based Australian author Anna Funder on various topics. Funder asks her about the importance given to female actress like Meryl Streep and Judi Drench in Hollywood, once they start aging.
"Female audiences are driving the change, I think. Women don't stop consuming cultural product once they stop menstruating," replied the actress, according to E Online. But the actress was of the opinion that the case is not same for women in other professions. The “Elizabeth” actress told the magazine that “there are countless industries around the world where women in top positions are not equally remunerated for equal work.”
The conversation then shifted to Blanchett's new member in her family. The actress and her husband of seventeen years, Andrew Upton recently announced to public that they have adopted a baby girl named Edith Vivian Patricia Upton. The couple already has three sons Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.
Blanchett told the magazine that her family decided to adopt Edith because there are a “lot of children out there who don't have the good fortune,” just like her three biological kids have. She felt “wonderful” to welcome baby Edith into her family. The couple announced the news on March 6.
The “Cinderella” star, who plays the negative character of a stepmother in the Disney film, also told the magazine that she “would rather presently live life this way” by being blessed with children. Blanchett said that children teach us about compromise since they are “spirited, passionate, political and demanding.” The family is planning to shift base to America at the end of 2015. They are currently living in England.
