“Catfish: The TV Show” is back on the small screens for season 6. The pilot episode of the new season has premiered on Wednesday, in which fans got an idea of what is in store for all the show this season. Hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph were the ones who were deceived.

The show typically centres on people looking to meet someone in person that they have first met online. Social media are the most common platforms through which these people meet, such as on Instagram, Facebook and popular dating app, Tinder.

In true “Catfish: The TV Show” fashion, these people looking to find love online usually end up catfished. They have been fooled or deceived by the people they met on the Internet.

But in the first episode of season 6, “Catfish: The TV Show” looked different. A guest in the show named Shawny, a mother of three, looked desperate for help during her meeting with the hosts of the show. She told the hosts that she has gotten a phone call from someone she does not know.

She said she didn’t answer the call, and sent a text message instead. Eventually, their exchanges of text messages have become flirty. She and the person she has been texting with however have not met in person, despite the fact that they live in the same town, she claimed.

The only thing she knew about the person she was flirting with was his name, Jack. When she was asked about how she would feel when she learns that Jack” is actually a female, she said that would be okay because she has no problems dating a female. The hosts started an investigation and traced the phone number to a woman named Angel as noted by Metro.

In the end, Shawny met “Jack,” whose real name is Brandon, a male. As it turns out, the mysterious texter is the former’s ex-husband. Shawny, whose real name was Ebony, knew that she was speaking with her ex-husband all along. Ultimately, Schulman and Joseph have been deceived by a woman, who appeared to be in need of their help.

Ebony was tricking Brandon, who used the name Jack to flirt to what he thought was a mysterious woman. Ebony confessed that she wanted to speak with her ex-husband to patch things up, but with no success so she tried to find another way. “Catfish: The TV Show” season 6 premieres March 24 at 8:30 p.m. on MTV in Australia.
