Catherine Zeta Jones honored for promoting native Wales
A-list actress, Catherine Zeta-Jones to receive William R. Hopkins medal in March
A-list actress, Catherine Zeta Jones will honored in the upcoming society award for her efforts in advocating for her native Wales.
The America’s Sweethearts star will be presented of the William R. Hopkins medal at the gala organized by the St. David’s Society of the State of New York to be held at the Yale Club on March 4.
The Hopkins medal awarded to the Chicago star this year is the society’s highest honor and will be given to the star to recognize her efforts in promiting awareness of her native, Wales.
According to Aceshowbiz.com, organizers of the society’s event have expressed optimism and reiteration of their choice for Catherine.
“I am absolutely thrilled Catherine is being given this honor by the St. David’s Society of the State of New York. She has done such a lot to promote Wales and the Welsh around the world through her work,” the website quoted Professor Peter Stead as saying.
The social historian and broadcaster who has founded the University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize also commended Catherine Zeta Jones for her involvement in various charities and causes.
He said, “But she is also an active supporter of charities and other causes including the arts and her role as a backer of the Dylan Thomas Prize has been a pivotal one.”
Jones is expected to be accompanied at the event by husband, Michael Douglas who has just recently overcome throat cancer.
