‘Celebrity Apprentice’ alum David Hasselhoff talks Madonna, Michael Jackson
Former “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia” Season 2 contestant David Hasselhoff, 63, is set to star in the Broadway musical, “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.” Recently, he talked about the times when Madonna and the late Michael Jackson would watch his shows.
In an interview with Nottingham Post, Hasselhoff said it was normal to have Madonna and Jackson in the audience of his shows during their “era.” He said they did not realise at the time that they were all going to be “successful and last so long.”
For Hasselhoff, he, Madonna and Jackson were “the lucky ones” to have a continuous career, since many artists during their time were not as fortunate. Madonna and Jackson became two of the best-selling artists of all time, while the “Baywatch” star went on to have 17 albums from 1985 to 2012.
The boyfriend of model Hayley Roberts, 33, also said that he was attracted to the role of an ageing party Ibiza DJ named Ross in “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” because it has many great songs from the 1980s and 1990s and there is a lot of him in the show. He explained that his songs in the Broadway musical “really tell the story.”
Among the songs Hasselhoff will sing in “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” are “Even Now” by Barry Manilow and “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams. Hasselhoff said that “Even Now” is about thinking of someone one lost, which is similar to what happened in his own life. He added that “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” also hits close to home for him.
Aside from being a singer and an actor, Hasselhoff also served as a judge in several reality television talent shows, such as “America’s Got Talent” and “Britain’s Got Talent.” Moreover, he joined several competition shows including “Promi Big Brother,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia.”
