Chelsea FC News: Blues No. 1 went Under the Knife, Could Recover in Time for Next Season
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech had undergone a shoulder surgery on Wednesday following an injury sustained during the semi-finals fixture in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
"Petr Cech successfully underwent surgery today following his shoulder dislocation in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid," read an official statement on the club's Website.
"He will be out for approximately eight to 10 weeks."
Reserve keeper Mark Schwarzer will be expected to be fielded in in lieu of the Blues' long-serving no. 1.
Meanwhile, there is much controversy concerning the future of on-loan Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois as Jose Mourinho might still not be able to guarantee him a regular spot in the starting 11 since Cech, who is in his prime age as a keeper at 31, continues to deliver world-class performances.
