An ongoing discussion between Manchester United and Chelsea involving Juan Mata's future is making progress, several sources report.

Jose Mourinho prefers Willain, Oscar, and Eden Hazard over the 2-time Blues Player of the Year to support his lone striker upfront, which makes the midfielder desperate to look for game-time elsewhere as his spot on Spain's roster in the upcoming World Cup is under threat.

After days of rumours linking Mata to United, the Red Devils have, finally, formalized their desire to bring the playmaker to Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague.

"Manchester United and Chelsea are negotiating the future of Juan Mata - and the idea is that Mata, who Chelsea are happy to let go, goes to Old Trafford in this transfer window," revealed Balague.

Reports further indicate that the west Londoners are proposing a player-to-player swoop with Wayne Rooney as a possible counterpart, but the Red Devils are firm in not letting go of the England striker and may have to deal with Chelsea's asking price, which is in the region of £35million.

United fans are so excited that one of them had already come up with a Youtube video welcoming the Spaniard.
