Chelsea vs West Brom: Mourinho’s Wish for Steve Clarke; Preview
Chelsea returns to English Premier League action against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday after securing a victory at the Veltins Arena against Schalke 04 in the Champions League.
The Blues, however, lost in their previous Premier League outing against Newcastle United wherein the back-four seemed vulnerable, as both of Newcastle's goals came from poor marking.
Jose Mourinho is determined to get his team back on track despite his coloseness with Albion boss Steve Clarke, and he has made known his wish for the latter.
"He knows that every match he plays I am wishing he will win, but not tomorrow, which is strange," Mourinho told chelseafc.com.
Clarke has served as the Portuguese's assistant during his first stint at Stamford Bridge and has since built a special bond between them, but Mourinho is putting business first over friendship on Saturday.
Omitted from the mid-week Champions League fixture, winger Eden Hazard is set to get back to action after sorting things out with the Portuguese mentor.
"He reacted well, he apologised to me and to the club. It's over now. He has the appetite to play because he loves to play football and I didn't allow him to play the last game. I am happy he is back," he revealed.
Meanwhile, West Brom's squad is marred with injuries with Scott Sinclair, among others, set to undergo a late fitness test.
"Scott has done a little bit of training this week," Clarke told premierleague.com.
"If I'm being honest, this game might come a little bit too early for him to be in the starting XI. Nicolas is doubtful because he has a slight groin strain."
