Arsenal came out victorious in a pressure-packed game against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday to the delight of Gunners defender Kieran Gibbs.

"It is massive - especially after the first game [at Emirates Stadium] - because we wanted to come here and prove something and we have done that," Gibbs told arsenal.com

Only a single goal separated them from Dortmund, but the England international is proud of how his teammates performed on the pitch.

"We didn't do it in style, but the way we won the game shows we have a certain character in the team now and it showed," he added.

"It is not an easy place to come to, not many teams can come here and get a result so we have to take that as a positive. We have put ourselves into a strong position for the rest of the group, so it is important that we take advantage of that."

The Gunners will be facing Manchester United on Sunday in the English Premier League.

United only managed to come up with a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad in Spain and Gibbs believes that the air of positivity in the Arsenal camp will help them secure a victory at Old Trafford.

"This is still a big week for us, we have a big weekend coming up but the last two games have been massive tests and we have come through them. I think we can go into the [Manchester United game] positively and try to get another result," he revealed.

Gibbs stressed that while the Gunners are focusing themselves towards their objectives, the importance of keeping the team away from external distractions is also vital.

"We want to prove to ourselves - not everyone else - that we can do it against the big teams. At the moment, we are doing that and we're happy with each other," he intimated.
