Blood Moon
The moon is seen behind a building housing a travel agency in Monterrey April 15, 2014. Parts of the world saw a rare celestial event on Tuesday when the Earth's shadow fell across the moon, turning it orange. The lunar eclipse unfolded over three hours beginning at about 2 a.m. EDT, when the moon began moving into Earth's shadow. A little more than an hour later, the moon could be seen eclipsed and bathed in an orange, red or brown glow. Reuters

As Sunday approaches, despite the assurance by scientists that the supermoon and solar eclipse are natural phenomena that occurs with regularity, apocalyptic warnings continue to be made, causing some groups to fear an approaching doomsday.

One such warning is from the book “Blood Moon Rising” by author Robert Rite, who says the recent four blood moons are part of the five prophetic signs that the coming period would be a very turbulent time for mankind. Rite, writing at Charismanews, even places a time frame for the turbulent times, which covers 13 months beginning September 2015 through October 2016.

He says these celestial signs converge in 2015 and would happen during God-appointed High Holy feast days. Citing ancient rabbis, Rite explains that when these signs occur during those feast days, “God is warning of something big about to happen.” He adds that these heavenly bodies were created not just to guide people for the seasons but also to serve as omens.

The other prophetic signs include the two seven-year Shemitah or year of rest from harvest and the 50-year jubilee when debts are forgiven. The other signs, he says are the global events that occurred in April 2014 when the first blood moon happened. The Sunday supermoon is the fourth blood moon.

The events include the emergence of the Islamic State, the exodus of Syrian refugees, escalation of police shooting and cops being shot in the US, Washington’s nuclear deal with Iran and the Ebola virus outbreak that reached the US.

Alabama.com cites Pastor John Hagee who says the blood moon “points to a world-shaking event that would happen between April 2014 and October 2015.” Hagee says that are no solar or lunar accidents and then cites a biblical verse of the sun turning into darkness and the moon into blood “before the great and the terrible day of the Lord comes.”

The National Aeronautics and Space Agency, however, continues to assure people that there won’t be an asteroid hit on Earth on the days of the blood moon. Rather than cower in fear of the unknown, astronomy buffs who want to witness the rare 30-year phenomena are instead preparing their cameras and smartphones to capture the lunar event of 2015.
