Everyone would want to have the first dibs on the third installment to the Modern Warfare series The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It was simultaneously launched in Europe and Northern America on Nov. 8, with versions on Microsoft Windows, Xbox360, Playstation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS

Both are military shooters but with different aims and works differently as well. But will COD: Modern Warfare 3 win the battle with the Battlefield 3 even if the latter was released in Oct.?

In the MW3, the player assumes the role of various characters during the single-player campaign, changing perspectives throughout the progression of the story. Battlefield 3 's campaign however, is set near the Iraq-Iran border, where the US Marine Corps are fighting the People's Liberation and Resistance (PLR).

Critical reviews were gathered by Metacritic, and surprisingly MW3 received the score of 90% for the Xbox 360 version and 88% for the PS3 version. On the other hand, Battlefield 3 may had lost this battle since Metacritic gave it 89% for the PC version, 85% for the Xbox 360 version and 86% for the PS3 version.

Both are first person shooter game, and are both prequel to the previous installments of Battlefied and COD: Modern Warfare, so you shouldn't wonder if ever you find yourself in a familiar place, like the in MW3 at the harbor chase, the snowmobile pursuit or the underwater mission.

From a gamers' point of view, Kit Sevilleja from the US who waited in line just to get his copy of COD:MW3 on the first day of release, said that " MW3 had an amazing graphics, smooth multiplayer experience with balanced weapons/killstreaks, brand new multiplayer game modes. Although it feels and plays like MW2, it's definitely improved, so that's not a bad thing. And also an epic campaign mode, best call of duty ever".

He also said that "MW3 is for players who wants faster paced, gun on gun gameplay with smaller maps. Battlefield 3 is slower paced shooter, with larger maps for gamers who want to fly jets and helos or drive tanks and humvees".

Release of MW3 in Australia and Japan is not until Nov. 17, 2011 for a week as the game will be launched on. Australia will only have the Wii version though, while Japan will have a sub-titled version which will be handled by Square Enix. The Japanese dubbed version will only be released on December 22, 2011.
