In the final episodes of the fourth season of the Fox hit TV series Glee, Finn Hudson, played by Canadian actor Cory Monteith, was not seen since Cory, in real life, was seeking treatment for his addiction. However, he was expected to be back in the fifth season due to broadcast in the U.S. in September.

But that would not happen and Glee creators would have to find a way to explain Finn's leaving the show because Cory died on Saturday evening, July 13, while alone in his room in a Vancouver hotel.

When news of his death hit media, some of his Glee co-stars immediately tweeted their reactions.

Igbal Theba, the actor behind Principal Figgins of William McKinley High, tweeted, "OMG!! My Cory ...," BBC quoted.

Dot-Marie Jones, who portrays Ms Beastie, the football coach of Finn, wrote, "I have no words! My heart is broke. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was on amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever."

Like his Glee co-stars, millions of fans of both Cory and the TV series, would surely miss him, although they could relive his powerful voice and strong presence through these five heartbreaking songs from the 31-year-old actor.

  • Can't Fight This Feeling - This was Cory's audition song for Glee, which was made part of the pilot episode, showing how he was discovered for the club - while naked and showering.

  • Just the Way You Are - Finn and all the males of Glee sang this song in the wedding of his mother to Kurt's father.

  • Somebody to Love - He sang this in Season 1 in the episode titled The Rhodes Not Taken

  • Marry You - Finn sang this Bruno Mars song in Season 2 during the wedding of his mother to Kurt's father in the episode titled Furt. It has been imitated by men who use the song to propose to their future brides.

  • We Are the Champions - Finn sang this song in Season 3 in the finale as part of their repertoire in the national championship. It was in Glee's The Graduation Album.

Indeed, the fifth song is a fitting tribute to Cory, who despite his human frailties, is a champion in the hearts of millions of Glee fans the world over.
