'Crossfire' Casting: Ian Somerhalder Shifting Interest to Gideon Cross after 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Rejection?
"Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. James revealed at a 2013 Comic Con party that the Christian Grey role will not go to actor Ian Somerhalder, and the "Vampire Diaries" star was reportedly upset about the rejection. Could Mr Somerhalder be shifting his interest to the "Crossfire" character Gideon Cross now that the novel series heads to the small screen?

"Crossfire's" Gideon Cross has similar characteristics found in Christian Grey: a handsome billionaire with a dark past. For this reason, Ian Somerhalder becomes a potential actor for the upcoming TV role, and the actor's casting situation was comparable to a door closing shut but a window opening somewhere.
The circulating reports on Ian Somerhalder claimed that the 34-year-old actor is disappointed over the fact that he has been crossed out of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting list. The paparazzi even inquired Ian about it to which the actor bitterly responded "I don't know, man, you tell me" and suggested that "Jim Carrey" could portray the Christian Grey role.
A "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting call was held last Saturday, August 3, where Acting-Auditions.org revealed the criteria in finding the actors and actresses for the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. For the handsome but dark billionaire, the production company is searching for an extremely good-looking, sexy and confident actor between 25 and 33 years old.
Based on the specific casting criteria, the age limit is a problem for Ian Somerhalder despite expressing his interest in being cast in the upcoming erotic film. "It could be very, very amazing," the actor previously told radio host and TV personality Ryan Seacrest during an interview.
"I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out... Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity," Ian further shared.
Ian Somerhalder has not given any comment yet on the upcoming "Crossfire" series, but the actor could still show the same amount of interest in the Gideon Cross role now that Lionsgate has officially acquired the TV rights on the best-selling romantic novel series. Fans must patiently wait for the series' arrival on the small screen, since no network signed on yet for the upcoming project.
