Dana White Defends McGregor-Siver Bout
Conor McGregor needs to pass another ordeal before he will be considered for a title and if he does, he will be Jose Aldo's next challenger. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White cautioned that McGregor will not have an easy road to the title. He defended critics of McGregor, a headliner opposite Dennis Siver at the UFC Fight Night 59 in January.
"A lot of people are dismissing Siver and saying this fight is ridiculous," the UFC president said at the post-UFC 179 press conference according to MMA junkie. "Siver knows exactly what happens if he comes in and beats Conor McGregor."
He further added that it will be a huge win for him so there is really no sense to talk about the Aldo fight. On the other hand, if McGregor will win, he is interested to make the McGregor vs. Aldo fight. However, he reiterated that it has yet to happen and then he'll see how everything else plays out. White previously claimed that McGregor was considered for a title shot after his fourth straight win and then he was elected to book him opposite Siver, which was criticised by fans.
Meanwhile, the UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is criticised for his unintentional illegal blows on Saturday night. After the first round, some people came over to say that he hit two punches after the bell but. Dana While said that he didn't hear the bell ring because it was too loud in the arena and it appears that the referee did not hear it either.
Jose Aldo faced Chad Mendes in the UFC main event on Saturday, which served as a rematch of their contest in 2012. Aldo was able to land a pair of clean punches that appeared to come in after the bell. At the post-event press conference, Aldo said that when the fight was about to end, he thought that he was winning hence he landed two punches. When the referee approached he thought that he had won but the round was over. The two had to restart the fight and things went back and forth for the next four rounds. Aldo eventually won the match with a high level performance from Mendes.
