Dami Im reveals couture Eurovision gown is ruined; dress won’t be part of her national tour [VIDEOS]
Australian-Korean singer Dami Im dazzled judges and the audience alike at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest not only with her powerful performance, but with her stunning bejewelled gown as well.
Earlier this month, the “X Factor Australia” Season 5 winner ranked second in this year’s singing competition after belting out the ballad “Sound of Silence.” Whilst the 27-year-old singer was considered the juries’ favourite, but fell just a few points behind Ukrainian singer Jamala, who sang “1944.” Russia’s representative, Sergey Lazarev came in third with his performance of “You Are The Only One.”

In addition to setting the stage on fire with her commanding presence and strong vocal prowess, Dami’s performance also became memorable when she walked in a white sparkling number by Sydney-based designer Steven Khalil. Whilst Dami’s fans are looking forward to seeing the gown for her upcoming nationwide tour, they might be in for a big disappointment.
During her first Australian interview since the Eurovision Song Contest, Dami revealed that the dress “kind of got almost destroyed.” She appeared on Network Ten’s “The Project” on Wednesday night, where she recounted the gown’s unfortunate fate. “The box that I was performing on -- the surface was like sandpaper -- so every time I came off it, it would rip some of the fabric,” Dami shared.
The singer also said that for her Eurovision number, two men lifted her. She joked, “So yeah, that's how I got the high notes in the end!” Dami made history with her second-place win, after she succeeded “Australian Idol” winner Guy Sebastian, who became the first-ever Australian contestant in Eurovision. After performing “Tonight Again” Sebastian landed on the fifth spot in the grand final.
Still savouring her victory at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, Dami is now preparing to embark on her first national tour, “Yesterday Once More,” starting on July 2. The 35-date tour is aimed at promoting Dami’s new album, “Classic Carpenters,” which was released on April 22.
