The “Most Memorable Year” night of “Dancing With The Stars” Week 4 on April 6 was emotionally charged as Iraq war veteran Noah Galloway and his pro partner Sharna Burgess performed contemporary to “American Soldier” by Toby Keith, according to Huffington Post. The dancing duo tugged at the heartstrings of the audience and the judges with their emotionally powerful performance. The pair’s contemporary dance form reflected Noah’s journey of acceptance from what he was earlier to what he is today.

The double amputee army vet impressed the judges and the audience with an athletic contemporary dance performance. Judge Julianne Hough could hardly hold back tears as she gave her feedback to the duo. Bruno Tonioli called him a superhero and an ultimate role model. Carrie Ann Inaba said that beyond his story, when he dances, Noah tells a profound story in very few words. Len Goodman got to his feet and asked the audience to applaud Noah. There was a standing ovation with cheers for the soldier who is an inspiration for others.

Noah was deployed to Iraq for a second time in 2005 and had a life-changing experience. The soldier almost lost his life in an explosion. His colleague thought that he would not be able to make it, but he did. He had severe injuries and it was so bad that he gained consciousness six days later at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. But by then he had already lost his left arm and left leg.

Noah recalled that by the accident he lost his career and thought he’d never be able to be walk or do anything again. He tried his best to bury his feelings but it didn't work. He used to sit all by himself at home and cope with his new situation by drinking. It took time for him to recover mentally and started focusing on what he had left rather than what he had lost. “I realized I had to make a change and it had to happen fast,” Galloway said. He started going to the gym and leading a healthy life, and things gradually fell in place after that.
