Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson Almost Quit Portraying 'Harry Potter' Movie Roles
"Harry Potter" film producer David Heyman has revealed that main actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson almost quit portraying the famous book characters. In the Perez Hilton report, the young stars were originally cast for two HP films only but David Heyman talked about how the negotiation process made Daniel and Emma change their minds after the "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" filming wrapped up.
"We had to renegotiate each time. Emma [Watson], in particular, was quite academic and was very keen in pursuit of schooling and was wrestling a little bit more than the others. So each time there was a negotiation, it was not about a financial [matter], it really was about, 'Do I want to be a part of this?' We had to be sensitive to her needs and how important school was to her," Mr Heyman shared.
The producer further added that they have to listen carefully. He revealed: "In our position, you're not dictating, you're listening. At the same time, it's a tipping point, and it's working within a framework."
As for Daniel Radcliffe, the 24-year-old English actor admitted in an interview that he wanted to give up the role after "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." However, the serious deliberation changed his mind and decided to portray the wizard until the last movie franchise "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2."
Daniel Radcliffe has already accepted the fact that even though he expands his acting career, the millions of fans who watched him grow up before their eyes will still refer to him as fictional character Harry Potter while Emma Watson will always be Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley.
When Harry Potter author JK Rowling teased the fans she considered writing another book about the famous wizard, Daniel Radcliffe confessed that he had a heart-stopping moment when the news reached him. The actor's response in the Jewish Business News report to the question if he will take the role for another round reads: "It would be very doubtful, as ten years is a long time to spend with one character."
