Daniel Radcliffe looks adorable in a decade old Harry Potter audition tape [VIDEO]
A video featuring young Daniel Radcliffe, during the audition for J.K. Rowling’s hit series “Harry Potter,” is going viral over the Internet these days.
The audition video has been posted on YouTube and it has gained popularity after Radcliffe revealed that it was quite difficult for him to watch the recording, in an interview to The Times in November.
“And I was like, ‘Oh s***! OK …,’” Radcliffe said about the first fleeting thought he had while watching the “Harry Potter” audition tape recently. Radcliffe was not very happy after seeing his audition tape after more than a decade. The actor was 11-year-old when he auditioned for the role and had donned the famous “Harry Potter” goggles for the first time. However, the younger version of Radcliffe had his own shares of problems while putting on the glasses.
“At a stage when you hate your face anyway, and anything it does is repellent to you,” the 26-year-old actor added. Radcliffe had a tough time watching his own younger version on the screen and essaying the role of Harry Potter for the first time.
Radcliffe recited his lines perfectly and with ease. He truly gave signs of a versatile actor that was in the making back then. In the audition video, the young Potter was seen talking to the off-screen Hagrid over a dragon egg. The wizard boy tries to know a thing or two about the egg, which is seen in “The Sorcerer’s Stone,” from the off-screen Hagrid.
The 11-year-old Radcliffe also delivered an emotional performance when he talked about Harry’s deceased parents. He then appears to try on the Potter goggles for the screen test. Radcliffe looked adorable in the glasses and posed on being instructed.
Despite a dream-like audition, Radcliffe’s parents were quite concerned about his future.
“They went to my parents, and, at the time, the deal was to sign on for, I think, six films, all to be done in LA,” Radcliffe revealed in an interview to The Telegraph. “My mum and dad simply said, ‘That’s too much disruption to his life. That’s not gonna happen’,” he said. However, Radcliffe’s patrents gave their consent once it was announced that there would be two "Harry Potter" movies that were to be shot in London.
