Daniel Radcliffe opens up about his past
Daniel Radcliffe was thrown into the spotlight after playing the lead role as Harry Potter at a very young age. The 26-year-old actor admitted that after the last "Harry Potter" film, living alone led him to alcohol addiction and smoking.
On a podcast interview with Marc Maron's WTF, Radcliffe explained that he had to battle of himself to try and have a normal life.
The star also admitted that finding his way out of the addiction has been easier in the US than in England. This also led to him shifting his focus from horror to indie films.
"I was very lucky that people gave me opportunities directly after Potter finished to play more grown up stuff because I could have been getting teen offer type stuff," said Radcliffe.
During the interview, he revealed that he is often mistaken as Elijah Wood from "Lord of the Rings." The two actors have similar looks and have worked in fantasy movies. He cracked a joke over the idea of working with Wood, "I am thinking of trying to write some sort of mistaken identity thing where one of us kills the other," said Radcliffe.
Recently, Metro reported that Radcliffe received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star attributed his success to his parents.
‘I never thank them and I’m not going to look at them because that would be a mistake for all of us,’ said Radcliffe.
Radcilffe was also thankful to "Harry Potter" fans for making it to the hall of fame. He could not believe how lucky he was for having multiple projects, ”Dog died - go make a movie. Failed some exams - go make a movie. Had your first kiss - go celebrate by making a godd--n movie," he said, Reuters reports.
Before Radcliffe joins the premier of "Now You See Me 2" next year, he will be seen in the up coming film "Victor Frankenstein" on Nov. 25.
