Data Miners Leak 'Battlefield 2042' Microtransactions
Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE are planning to roll out some heavily criticized and universally disliked in-game monetization features, the latest data mining activity on the latest 4.0 patch showed.
During the EA Q3 FY2022 earnings call, CFO Blake Jorgensen assured fans that they are "committed to turning Battlefield around and building a sustainable live service, even if some of the actions [they were] taking, like moving the first season into FY 2023, impact net bookings in the short-term."
Interestingly, in addition to fixes and new content, it looks like microtransactions might also roll out in the game very soon.
This information came from the industry insider and data miner who goes by the name temporyal, who uncovered details pointing to an in-game store and microtransactions.

The data miner also discovered references to cosmetics for soldiers, vehicles and weapons, purchase bundles and XP boots.
Five different premium currency packages were discovered from the latest "Battlefield 2042" 4.0 patch with "weekly & bonus missions for the upcoming Battle Pass," the data miner disclosed.
The battle pass is scheduled to launch when the game's season 1 starts, which could be sometime in the summer of 2022. Temporyal also shared store menu images, providing more proof of their claim.
The upcoming additions, while still unofficial, were not received well by some fans who shared their frustrations on various social media outlets. Players are disgusted by the XP boosters since DICE earlier decided to prevent players from farming XP in Portal to make sure nobody could have progression through unfair means.
However, if the leak about microtransactions is true, the XP booster could enable players to purchase progression, making DICE's earlier position on unfair progression moot. Six months after the official release, the player count of "Battlefield 2042" is below 1000 and the game also saw a muted increase following the latest patch's release.
"Battlefield 2042" was released in October 2021 on Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PC.
