'Days Of Our Lives' spoilers for Aug 23: Salem mourns Abby’s “death;” Chad gives up custody battle

A gloomy day looms large over Salem as a beloved character is assumed dead. On Tuesday’s episode of “Days Of Our Lives” (“DOOL”), Abigail (Kate Mansi) is remembered by her loved ones as they struggle to accept her tragic ending. Fans, of course, know that it’s only a matter of time before the new Abby (Marci Miller) arrives to prove that the news was just a hoax.

It’s interesting how her husband, Chad (Billy Flynn) would take Abby’s impending comeback. Right now, however, his depression leads him to accept defeat and let his mother-in-law take care of his son. Other “Days Of Our Lives” cast members who will figure prominently on the Aug.23 installment include Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), Belle (Martha Madison), Ciara (Vivian Jovanni), Theo (Kyler Pettis) and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan).

TV Guide reports that on Tuesday’s run of “DOOL,” Chad mourns Abby’s death and tells Belle that he’s giving Jennifer his permission to raise Thomas. However, it looks like a distraught Jennifer has fallen off the wagon and is locked up in a motel with booze and pills. Ciara, on the other hand, reels after Theo informs her about Abby’s demise. Elsewhere, Claire and Theo turn to music as their way to cope with the tragic news.

On Monday, Nicole learned that Deimos is paying for Maggie’s surgery and that he’s the one who convinced a doctor to come out of his retirement to treat Maggie. Later, she told Nicole that they should slow things down. Deimos said he wants to have kids with her, but was devastated to discover that she can’t have children because of a shooting incident. Deimos brushed it off and said there are other ways to explore. She thanked him for what he did for Maggie and asked him to go to the hospital with her. At the hospital, the surgery went well and Victor was ecstatic to learn that his wife would regain full functionality. At that point, Deimos and Nicole arrived.

Meanwhile, Chloe had another nightmare, wherein Deimos found out that he’s the father of her baby. Claire arrived just in time and discovered the abortion pamphlet. She confronted Chloe, who confirmed that she’s pregnant. Later, Chloe called Philip and told him that she’s keeping the baby. They agreed to keep the truth from Deimos. Later, Philip went over to Chloe’s and discussed the baby. Philip said the baby needs a father. “Finding pretend baby daddy volunteers isn't exactly going to be easy,” Chloe replied. Philip volunteered to do it, bringing a smile on Chloe’s lips.
