DC's ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ casting details, time travel rules and more [VIDEO]
“The Flash” time-bending story gets a spin-off called "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," to be aired on The CW Network.
The series will follow a time master from the future called Rip Hunter, to be played by Arthur Darvill. Hunter will recruit various characters, who appeared on “The Flash” and “Arrow,” to watch over the time stream and help fight an immortal villain called Vandal Savage, to be played by Casper Crump.
The confirmed cast of the show includes Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, who is also known as The Atom, Victor Garber as Firestorm, Caity Lotz as White Canary, Falk Hentschel as Hawkman, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl.
On the villains’ side, Dominic Purcell will play Flash’s nemesis Heat Wave and Wentworth Miller has been roped in to play Captain Cold.
At the recent New York Comic-Con 2015, the show’s producer Phil Klemmer dished about the time travel element on the show.
Klemmer clarified that despite the time travel element, a death of a character will mean death. “No, death means death; if you lose that, you get the kind of ‘get out of jail free card.'”
He said that the time paradox interference will lead to horrible events for the characters on the show. They intend to use this as a rule to keep the stakes high in the development of the series.
“Our rule is that when try to interfere in events that you participated in, that creates a time paradox, and black holes, and horrible things happen. So we want to keep those tensions alive; when our characters are in moments of mortal peril, that they do have consequences -- that they’re not just like, ‘well, it’s ‘Groundhog Day,' we’ll start over tomorrow,” he said.
"Legends of Tomorrow" makes its debut in early 2016.
