Deborra-Lee Furness: Hugh Jackman's Wife Wants People To Stop Saying She's 'Lucky' To Be Married To The Aussie Actor
Deborra-Lee Furness, Hugh Jackman's wife, recently revealed the word that she does not really appreciate when it comes to describing her marriage to the Aussie actor in anAustralian Woman's Weekly interview. The 58-year-old actress admitted that she is sick and tired of the people who are saying that she is "lucky" to be married to the "X-Men" star.
"That to me is a putdown, like you suggesting I won the chook raffle," Furness stated in the October issue of the Aussie magazine. The actress also believes that people create their personal destiny in life.
"When people look at my life, they don't know the challenges (I face), just like I don't know someone else's. With every privilege, comes responsibility and challenges," Furness further explained. The couple met back in 1995 on the set of the Australian TV show titled "Correlli" and they tied the knot in 1996.
Jackman, 45, and Furness are currently proud parents to their adopted children, 14-year-old Oscar and 9-year-old Ava. According to a Mail Online report, the couple decided to adopt kids after Deborra-Lee Furness failed to conceive even though she already went through a series of In vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.
Furness was recently spotted and photographed out with her family in New York City. The captured images showed that the actress, wearing a black blouse and a pair of loose-fitting three-quarter pants, is a busy mother who handles her kids' backpacks, jumper, her handbag and a camera before riding inside the car with her husband. Aside from being an actress, producer and director of independent films, Deborra-Lee Furness is also a devoted ambassador for the reformation of the adoption laws in Australia and the executive director of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation. Furthermore, a Sydney Morning Herald report revealed that Jackman and Furness launched a charitable foundation this 2014 that supports the performing arts in Australia.
"Deborra-Lee and Hugh are both passionate about supporting the performing arts, and excited to be launching their foundation in Perth where Hugh's career began," foundation trustee Geoff Michael stated to the West Australian newspaper. Australian veteran actor Jack Thompson serves as a founding patron of the charitable foundation that has set an objective of raising at least $10 million over the next four years.
