Dell’s XPS: Looks like an Adamo but Better
When Dell phased out Adamo a few months ago the luxury line seemed destined to be a forgotten memory. However, the new Dell XPS 15z resurrects Adamo's high-end design and premium features for a powerful laptop that costs less than its competitors.
The XPS 15z is a beautiful blend of some of Adamo's finer qualities and the XPS. It looks like a thinner version of the Dell XPS 15. The entire enclosure is aluminum and magnesium alloy. It is supposed to be the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the market, but it's still a hair thicker than the MacBook Pro.
Screen quality is top notch. The 1,920 by 1,080 resolution makes videos and photos pop. The island keyboard is a joy to use and the scalloped keys are again a remnant of the Adamo XPS. The keyboard has backlights underneath which makes it easier to see the keys. Best of all the lights don't sue up that much energy since they are turned on and off by a sensor.
The XPS 15z is powered by a dual core laptop. This might seem like a downgrade from Apple's quad core supported processors but the 15z's Intel Core processor can handle any task. Because of the 8GB of DD3 memory even the most taxing game or application is a cake walk. It also helps that it has a Nvidia GeForce GT 525M as a main graphics card. If you're using it for games, you can do worse than this laptop.
The 64WH battery can last for 6 hours, at least 2 hours more than the Apple MacBook. You can fit a bigger battery if you want but for a 15 inch laptop the 6 hours is pretty good.
As a revamped Adamo, the Dell XPS 15 can hold its own against Apple's MacBook. It's thin, cheap and runs as well as any laptop in its range.
