Diet Pills Burn Woman’s 'Insides' In 3 Hours, Victim Dies After Metabolism Exploded Like TNT
Eloise Parry from Shrewsbury, United Kingdom reportedly died on April 12 three hours after consuming eight tablets of diet pills bought online. The slimming pills were thought to have contained DNP, a toxic industrial compound that accelerates metabolism, resulting in quick weight loss. Parry’s mother, Fiona, said in a statement her daughter’s “insides” were literally burned from within and her metabolism “exploded like TNT.”
Fiona disclosed Eloise took the diet tablets in dosage higher than what the label prescribed and the latter was oblivious about the perils of taking more than what has been recommended. The grieving mother continued she rushed her daughter to Royal Shrewsbury hospital, but her heart already ceased beating and the doctors could not revive the latter.
The statement continued the medical doctors “never stood a chance of saving her,” although at first, Fiona did not greatly panic until a report from toxicology divulged her daughter was in a critical condition.
In an interview, Fiona said the tablets were her daughter’s “little fix,” which enabled Eloise to attain a really slender figure but it had cost her daughter’s life. Fiona continued she did not know Eloise was on slimming pills until her death, which was “bad news.”
Fiona went public about her daughter’s death to admonish the public against a diet fad that may be highly toxic. She said it will only take “a small amount to kill” and the slimming pills Eloise consumed was a “nasty drug,” which when already inside the system can inflict fatal damage.
“It doesn’t just burn fat; it destroys your muscles. It turns bodily fluids yellow,” Fiona spoke to BBC.
Following the incident, the police investigated the website where the slimming pills were supposedly bought. Jennifer Mattison, chief inspector, said the authorities are concerned over how the pills were procured as unregistered websites may sell products with substances detrimental to public health whether the goods are fake or have already expired. Mattison advised the public to be particularly careful in doing online shopping of supplements or medicines.
The public is awaiting a coroner’s report on the matter.
