Disney fans are very excited after the studio introduced its newest princess, Elena of Avalor. Yahoo reported that the Latina Disney princess will first be seen in action in a special episode of “Sofia the First” on Disney Junior. Later on, she will star in her own spin-off series, “Elena of Avalor”.

Here are some interesting things to know about Elena of Avalor.

1. She will be voiced by Aimee Carrero

The 16-year-old Latina princess will be voiced by the 26-year-old actress Aimee Carrero. Carrero is best known as Angie in Cartoon Network's live-action "Level Up." She is currently playing the role of Sofia Rodrqiguez in ABC Family's "Young & Hungry."

2. She is beautiful

Similar to all Disney princesses, Elena is physically attractive, with huge almond eyes, pink cheeks, a fit figure, thick dark hair and olive skin, keeping true to her Latin roots. Regardless of the background, Disney princesses have the same profile, featuring a big head, tiny waist and flowing hair.

3. The Amulet of Avalor

On Elena’s debut on “Sofia the First,” Sofia will finally discover the truth about her magical Amulet of Avalor. It turns out that Shuriki, an evil sorceress trapped the Latina princess inside the amulet for decades. Sofia will finally free Elena so she can retake her throne.

4. She starts at the top

Contary to many Disney princesses started their way to royalty from the ground up, Elena of Avalor is one of the rarer types who begin their story as a ruler on the series. She will be the leader of Avalor, guided by her Grand Council, consisting of her grandfather Tito, grandmother Cici and Duke Esteben, the Royal Advisor. The series will generally present her making important decisions in ruling her kingdom.

5. She will captivate the audience

The character is described as a compassionate and confident teenager. MTV reported that fans are already looking forward to the debut of Elena. According to Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, the creative team intended to come up with a great story that will showcase the dreams of a wide audience. Elena was created under the influence of the rich culture and tradition of the Hispanic and Latino people. It was a good move for the team, considering how 53 million people are Hispanic.
