‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ Gets An Xbox Exclusive Six-Hour Trial
EA will provide Xbox Live Gold members a free six-hour trial of it’s 2014 RPG, “Dragon Age: Inquisition.” The free trial is set to run from March 10-16, and will be available only to Xbox One owners.
The announcement comes via the official Xbox Twitter account, which links to a new “Dragon Age: Inquisition” awards trailer. The trailer, hosted on the official Xbox YouTube channel, states that BioWare’s sprawling open-world RPG has now amassed over 100 game of the year awards, with plaudits from the likes of Joystiq, GamingTrend, IGN and more.
As noted by Videogamer in its coverage, the free trial appears to be identical to the six-hour slice of gameplay currently available to members of the EA Access subscription program. The EA Access trial for “Dragon Age: Inquisition” launched in Nov. 2014, ahead of the game's release. The trial offers gamers six hours of uninterrupted play time and the ability to carry save games and progress over to the full game.
Saved progress comes as a benefit, as finishing the game within the six-hour time limit of the free trial will be impossible. In a pre-launch interview with Polygon from October 2014, BioWare producer Cameron Lee stated that “Dragon Age: Inquisition” would be a massive game, requiring about 150-200 hours from gamers looking to complete all content. He stated that the team was working hard to create a living, breathing world for players to explore, with an epic BioWare story at its heart.
“People could burn through it and just do the main path, but we wanted to have a world that's fully immersive and well-defined for you to explore, discover and get involved in. We want you to see you decision have an impact and take shape in the world,” he said.
Gamespot rated “Dragon Age: Inquisition” a 9/10 in its review, highlighting the game’s interesting and relatable characters, intriguing story and diverse environments, while knocking the game for its simplistic combat. The free trial starts March 10 and will end on March 16.
