Eminem urges fans to donate school supplies to poor students in Flint, Michigan

Considered as the greatest rapper of all time, Eminem is using his fame and following to generate donations to a non government organization that provides school supplies to public school students in Flint, Michigan.

With the start of classes in the fall fast approaching, Marshall Mathers III used social media to echo his appeal for donations to Kids in Need Foundation. The Detroit native artist posted a photo of him carrying a black-and-red backpack full of school supplies, which is what Kids in Need Foundation intends to distribute to poor students.

“(I am) Continuing to keep Flint in mind. Ninety (90) percent of the kids in their public school system live in poverty - give us a hand getting all 5,500 students a backpack full of supplies. Link in the bio to donate,” Eminem captioned the photo he posted on his Instagram and Facebook pages.

The “Love the Way You Lie” rapper has 9.2 million followers on photo- and video-sharing application Instagram and another 92 million likes on his Facebook page.

According to the Kids in Need Foundation, a US$25 (AU$32.76) donation can already provide school supplies for one student for the entire year. But donors have the option to donate as low as US$10 (AU$13.10) or up to US$50 (AU$65.51) for the foundation’s backpack program.

“When families struggle to (pay) rent and buy groceries each month, school supplies just can't be a priority. In 2015, we directly supported 4.8 million kids with new supplies,” the Kids in Need Foundation said.

Eminem new album 2016 release

Despite updating his fans on social media about his latest charitable involvement, Eminem kept mum about his new album release date. Earlier, Slim Shady has dropped out of the Forbes’ list of top-earning celebrities due to few gigs and no album released from June 2015 to June 2016. (Click here for the related story)

Nevertheless, Eminem’s “Without Me” was feature alongside 13 other tracks on the chart-topping “Suicide Squad” official sound track. Slim Shady would also be collaborating on the upcoming album of Dirty Dozen, according to Swifty Mcvay.

Eminem’s former bodyguard, Byron “Big Naz” Williams, said a new movie about the multi-awarded rapper is in the works but Eminem did not confirm or deny the claim. (Click here for related story)

Eminem last starred in the 2002 film “8 Mile,” and he released his last studio album “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” in 2013.
