Eminem’s protégé 50 Cent sued over Starz series ‘Power’ for $200 million
Eminem’s protégé Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, was recently sued over the TV series, which airs on Starz and is produced by the “In Da Club” rapper. An author claimed that he has written a manuscript that is similar to the hit series’ premise.
According to Larry Johnson, his “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid” was given to an employee at 50 Cent’s G-Unit Books named Nikki Turner. He claimed that the book was published but the rapper turned it into “Power.”
Johnson is suing 50 Cent for $200 million. He claimed that his book “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid” has a character named Ghost, who owns a lucrative Atlanta nightclub, while the Star series “Power” has a character named Ghost, who runs a New York nightclub called It.
In addition, Johnson said that a close friend of the main character in his book “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid” is described as a person with a hot temper. He said this character is similar to the “Power” character Tommy Egan played by “True Detective” alum Joseph Sikora.
In response, Turner denied Johnson’s claims saying the the news that is circulating in regard to herself, 50 Cent and the Starz hit series “Power” is not true. She told TMZ that she never showed 50 Cent any manuscripts but her own which is titled “Death Before Dishonor.”
“Please don't believe the lie that's being told, as it's completely false,” Turner told the publication. She also clarified that “Death Before Dishonor” is in no way related to “Power,” which also stars 50 Cent as Kanan.
Along with 50 Cent and Egan, “Power” also stars Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Andy Bean, Adam Huss, Shane Johnson and Lucy Walters, among others. The third season of the Starz series is set to premiere in June 2016.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent recently met with Nollywood actor Jim Iyke at Club Tryst in Atlanta during an event for Effen Vodka, which the former is an ambassador. The two were seen posing with Effen Vodka bottles, 360 Nobs reported.
