Emmy Awards 2013: Homeland’s Claire Danes Reveals how Happiness Husband Brings her Help Create Unhappiness in the "Land of Make-Believe" [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
“Homeland” lead star, Claire Danes has kept the award belt on after nabbing the best actress award in drama series for her role as Carrie Mathison in Showtime’s hit series, Homeland.
Danes looked stunning in her ‘faux bob” hairstyle and fiery red lips matched to a tulle embroidered gown from Armani Prive. The "Homeland" actress paid tribute to her husband, Hugh Darcy in her acceptance speech at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, 22 Sept.
'Thank you for making me so whole and happy so I can be entirely unhappy in the land of make-believe,' the actress passionately said of her husband as she took the stage to receive her gold statue.
Held in Nokia Theater at Downtown Los Angeles over the weekend, the top award is Danes’ third Emmy trophy. This marked her second straight win for “Homeland” as Carrie Mathison since she got her first best actress award for drama series in 2012.
The mother of one first received her Emmys for the top lead actress award in 2010 for her role in HBO’s “Temple Gardin.”
In “Homeland,” Danes play the character of a top CIA agent who fell in love with a war veteran who turned fugitive and terrorist after a decade of captivity in the Middle East region.
Amidst her personal, medical condition, Carrie found herself in the web of lies brought by Sgt. Nicholas Brody in the first two seasons of the drama thriller. Able to thwart the former war hero, Carrie not only succeeded taking Brody on the government’s side but she served as his protector somehow.

Carrie is not the only winner who brought home a golden trophy over the weekend. Damian Lewis failed to snatch the top award for the lead actor in drama series from Newsroom lead star, Jeff Daniels. But Henry Bromell took another Homeland win for Outstanding Writer.
