EPL Transfer News: Real Madrid striker denies Arsenal move, Barcelona move rejected by Paul Pogba
Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez has played down transfer rumours linking him with a move to the English Premier League, with London club Arsenal particularly interested.
Jese’s more famous teammate Karim Benzema has been the one more often linked with an Arsenal move, with the London club showing interest every summer transfer window for the past few seasons, but has still remained at the club, and now it is the turn of Jese to deflect attention over his future.
Jese has struggled to become Real Madrid’s first-choice striker despite doing well when given chances in recent seasons, leading to rumours of a move to the Premier League with either Arsenal or Liverpool.
“I’ve always wanted to be at Real Madrid and be a success. I’m very happy. I always try to make the most of the playing time the coach gives me, and I feel good and I have to carry on like this,” Jese said on the Real Madrid website.
Meanwhile, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has claimed that his client actually rejected the Spanish champions earlier this summer because of his love for Juventus.
Barcelona were reported to have made an £80 million (AU $169.53 million) bid for the midfielder, but were rebuffed by the Italian champions who were desperate to keep hold of the highly rated youngster.
"He stayed at Juve because his heart told him to, even though there were some big offers for him. There were three or four clubs interested him in the summer, but he decided to stay at Juve and he is convinced he made the right choice," Raiola told Radio Deejay.
Raiola also confirmed that there was no agreement in place already for the 22-year-old to move to the Nou Camp next summer, claiming any interested clubs would have to sit down with Juventus afresh and discuss a move.
"Absolutely not -- whoever wants to sign him has got to sit down with Juve and then we will see,” Raiola added in his interview.
