Former American Football Safety Darren Sharper, who used to play for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orlean Saints, was arrested on suspicion of rape charges in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Los Angeles Police Department said Sharper had been associated with two sexual assaults that occured in October 2013 and January 2014 in West Los Angeles Area, as reported in CBS News.

Sharper was taken to a Los Angeles jail for booking and processing. He was released on bail after paying $200,000. The 38-year-old former football player is expected to appear in court on Feb. 14.

In a news article published by USA Today, a third sexual complaint against Sharper that allegedly took place in September 2013 not linked to the two in Los Angeles is being investigated by the New Orleans Police Department.

After retiring from playing professional football in the National Football League (NFL), Sharper has been working as an analyst in the NFL Network. However, after his arrest on Friday, the NFL Network has suspended him indefinitely.

"Darren has been suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately," the NFL Network said in a statement. However, the network refused to comment further on Sharper's rape case.

Things aren't really looking great for Sharper. Being accused of raping some women is a very serious matter. Sharper's life is at stake. He may be guilty or may be not. Hopefully, the truth will prevail and the guilty party will be apprehended.

Sharper has always been active on Twitter but he has not posted new statuses and messages on the popular social media Web site after the news broke.

He debuted in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted by the Packers during the second round of the 1997 NFL Draft. Then the Minnesota Vikings signed him in March 2005. He became an unrestricted free agent after the 2008 season before signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Sharper was a six-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection. He was with the Saints when they won Super Bowl in 2010.
