Fashion From the 2011 American Music Awards [PHOTOS]
Sometimes, watching the stars on the red carpet is just as good as watching the whole award show itself; such was the case for the American Music Awards.
Held in Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, the nominees were contending for the public's votes as the winners are chosen via text and internet votes. However, their fashion choices were completely up to them and while some failed miserably in the style department and were duly fined by the fashion police, others soared and looked absolutely amazing.
The night's big winner, Taylor Swift, walked away with 3 trophies (including Artist of the Year) but most would declare that the young country star positively glowed. With her penchant for all gowns glittery and golden (recall if you will her gown circa Kanyegate), Swift was decked out in a dress that was just that-glittery, gold and strapless. Her choice of a side ponytail also made the dress younger, cheers to that!
Fresh power-couple-in-the-making Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez also looked wonderful together. He wore a classic tuxedo and she wore a cream colour satin number that evoked old school glamour-props to Justin for giving Selena the stage as his downplayed tux marvellously set off her gown.
Another fashion victor was Katy Perry who dressed in pink from her hair to her dress. The cheeky singer pulled off the look beautifully and got a special award for having a number of songs in the number 1 spot consecutively.
Not to be outdone, Jennifer Lopez who won for Latin Music Artist began her performance fully clothed and by the end of the medley, she was stripped down to nothing but a sparkly body suit, making fashion critics sqeal "muy caliente!"
Other fashion winners include Cheryl Hines, Vanessa Minnillo, Jennifer Hudson and another Jenny, Jenny McCarthy.
