Shailene Woodley of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" has officially signed on to play Hazel Grace Lancaster in the film adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars." John Green is definitely ecstatic about the female lead. Now the big question is who among Hollywood's finest young actors should play opposite Woodley as Augustus "Gus" Waters?

John Green's novel, "The Fault in Our Stars" has been named as Time Magazine's Book of 2012 which is why it isn't surprising to hear a film adaptation is finally in the works. Josh Boone has signed on as the director of the film, and while the casting for Hazel Grace was quite easy, casting for Gus will be scrutinised up to the tiniest detail. For Boone, Josh wants an actor to play Gus "not older than 25 years of age."

This requirement has slimmed down the chances of a few stars in the business with the potential of playing the dark-haired, blue-eyed boy. One example would be JGL. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been an early favourite for the role of Gus, but given his age, clearly Josh just won't take him in even for a reading.

Still, Boone might have an actor in mind but that doesn't mean fans of the books can't imagine the endless possibilities of actors fit to play Gus. A few notable names on fan polls include "Perks of Being a Wallflower" star Logan Lerman, "Teen Wolf's" Dylan O'Brien, "21 Jump Street's" Dave Franco, "Warm Bodies'" Nicholas Hoult, and "Glee's" Grant Gustin
