FC Barcelona have landed Sevilla playmaker Ivan Rakitic for a suggested fee of £16million.

The Croatian international was a key figure in the Sevillistas 2013/14 run, helping them win the Europa League, as well as ensuring them a return to Europe next season.

He was able to contribute 18 assists and 15 goals in 52 appearances, but was nonexistent during the opening match of the World Cup, wherein

Croatia was handed a 3-1 shellacking by footballing powerhouse Brazil.

The 26-year-old will stay at the Nou Camp until 2019, as stated in the Barca's website.

"FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ivan Rakitic," the statement read.

"Ivan Rakitic will sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next five seasons."

"Both clubs have also agreed for Denis Suárez to be loaned to the Andalusian club for the next two seasons."
