Borussia Dortmund midfield sensation Ilkay Gundogan may be headed to Barcelona despite of the rumours linking him to Premier League frontrunners Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has been keeping an eye on the 23-year-old since last season, while United boss David Moyes is in desperate need for reinforcement in the middle of the park.

According to Spanish media, however, members of the Barcelona board have already held a meeting with the 23-year-old's father, in an attempt to surreptitiously snatch the German international away from Dortmund.

Gundogan is tied with the Bundesliga club until 2015, receiving a humble £25,000-a-week in wages, which would definitely see him entertain lucrative offers from England and Spain alike.

Real Madrid is also a rumoured suitor because they see him as a perfect replacement for Los Blancos midfielder Xabi Alonso, who has yet to renew his expiring contract with the La Liga giants.
